The May bank holiday gives most people a long weekend off but also leaves many parents looking for extra ways to keep their kids entertained.
However, there are enough family-friendly events and activities taking place throughout the country to keep everyone happy.

Woolapalooza Sheep & Farm Festival, Airfield Estate
Kick up your heels as the annual Woolapalooza Farm Festival continues on Bank Holiday Monday. A fun-packed schedule of farm activities will be rolled out and will be sure to make you go barn-y for all things farm-y!
Top street artists from around the world and from Belfast too, give more than 120 free performances over the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend. Acts will be performing on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Bank Square, Cornmarket, Cotton Court, Saint. Annes's Square and Writers' Square.
Cheer on the runners in the 36th Belfast City Marathon. The main runners start from City Hall at 9 am followed by the Team Relay, 8-Mile Walk and Wheelchair Race. There is also a fun run starting at 9.20am from City Hall but following a different route.
Tears of Selkie, a puppet play, narrated by Susan Ahrens, with music by Eoin Duignan, will be performed at Dingle Bookshop at 2 pm. Admission is free.
Smithwick's Kilkenny Roots Festival
The ever-popular music festival finished up on Bank Holiday Monday with Paul Cauthen in Pumphouse at 1 pm, David Kitt playing on Cleeres at 4 pm and Andrew Coulter closes out another successful festival in Kyteler's Inn at 9 pm.
The Bray Jazz Festival winds down with the last of the Wicklow Wolf Festival Trail in the Harbour Bar from 3 pm and the Bray Concert Band 30th Anniversary at The Martello, Strand Road from 1 pm.
Zipit Forest Adventures
The Zipit Forest Adventures in Dublin, Cork and Roscommon are open on Bank Holiday Monday from 9 am. Book before travelling to avoid disappointment.
