A selection of events taking place in Ireland this weekend.
The 8th All-Ireland Scarecrow Championship takes place in Durrow, Co Laois all week with lots of fun events over the weekend. Not only can you enjoy the incredible scarecrow entries but there is a Harry Potter Interactive Zone, Food & Craft Fair and the IWW Wrestling Warriors will be performing from 12:30-17:30 on Monday.
The popular summer festival continues through to Sunday offering exciting horse racing, live music and entertainment, fashion and family fun
The Festival was established to boost tourism in the region using the 'Rose of Tralee' format. Now in its 28th year, The Maiden of the Mournes International Festival continues to offer something for everyone including free open air musical entertainment each evening, children’s events, fireworks, sports, the ‘Maiden of the Mournes’ and the festival closing parade. It all starts this Sunday with an Old Fair in the Square.
This is the 25th Annual Waterford Spraoi, turns the streets of Waterford into an open-air venue for some of the best entertainers. The highlight is the Annual Parade that takes place on Sunday night, starting at 9.30pm from Johnstown Industrial Estate to the Quays.
The popular festival in Dun Laoighre on August 5th & 6th features live music, street food, games, arts, design and lots of family activities run by Imaginosity, Dublin Children's Museum from 12-6pm each day.
Irish Rock 'n' Roll Museum Experience
Attention all Fire Fighters.
They didn't start the fire, but they still want you to visit.
If you are a member of the Fire Brigade with a burning desire to visit the Irish Rock 'n' Roll Experience then you can get in for FREE during the month of August as part of the Museum's campaign to give back to the front lines.
A fun day out if you can't set fire to the, eh, rain.
The Kilgarvan Show is an annual agriculture show held in the picturesque surroundings of Kilgarvan and the Roughty Valley. Now in its 33rd year, it is one of the largest agricultural shows in the Munster area offering a range of activities and competitions throughout the day.
Mary From Dungloe International Festival
The 50th Mary from Dungloe International Festival runs all week and centres on the selection of the ‘Mary from Dungloe’. Events over the weekend include Nathan Carter live, the Carnival Parade, Closing Fireworks display and the Meenacross Agricultural Show on Monday.
Celebrating the mysterious monster spotted living in Lough Ree with a range of fun events and activities.
The Lough Ree Monster will arrive at Lanesborough by water from Newtowncashel on Friday, August 4th heralding a weekend of live music from Mick Denver, Cliona Hagan and IE/DC. There will be a fireworks display when it leaves on Sunday night at 9.30pm.
A fun family run on an inflatable obstacle course takes place in Marlay Park on Saturday.
Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival
One of the world's oldest fairs takes place on Wednesday, 9th August this year and is now celebrated with a five-day festival that includes a fun fair, live music and a Craft Village with local artisan foods, animals, vintage and heritage displays. There is a family fun day this Sunday.
Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival
The 49th Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival kicks off on 4th of August and runs through to Friday, 11th August. The festival programme includes a display of vintage, equestrian and community entries, artisan and craft market, the Olde Time Traditional Fair, a busking competition, antiques and fine art fair, live music, sporting and literary events as well as loads of family events.
The Vintage Festival parade starts at 3 pm on Sunday and is followed by after-parade entertainment on the streets of Birr until 7pm.
Enniscorthy Rockin' Food Festival
A fun Bank Holiday weekend of live music, food and family fun.
There is a full schedule of events, activities and food trails with an Artisan Food & Craft Market, a new Food Marquee with cookery demonstrations and talks and children's activities including Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea Party, Treasure Hunt, Magician & Punch and Judy Shows, Junior 1798 Rebel March, Ancient East Story telling, Bungee Trampolines and Carousels and much more.
The fifth annual Mayo Manchester Tradfest that previously took place in Ballina is going on the road with events throughout the county. There is a TradFest trail in Ballina on Friday, MMTradfest celebrations in Castlebar on Saturday as well as concerts in Attymass, Bonniconlon and a closing session in Matt Molloy's in Westport on Wednesday 9th.
Castlepalooza takes place in Charleville Castle in Tullamore this weekend and is known for its relaxed, feel-good atmosphere. This year's line-up includes Wild Beasts, David Kitt, Le Galaxia and Waze & Odyssey.
There's also a comedy stage featuring Deirdre O'Kane, PJ Gallagher, Colm O' Reagan and more.
Twenty live, and free, gigs in a few different venues and settings throughout the weekend. Events include Dermot Byrne’s Dirt Road Blues Band, Booka Brass, Suzanne Savage and Beneath The Underdog - The Music of Charles Mingus - in The House restaurant on Sunday evening.
North Tipperary Agricultural Show
Fun, family event on Bank Holiday Monday in Nenagh featuring all the usual competitions including horses, cattle, ponies, sheep, dogs,
poultry, show jumping and dog show.
Great summer festival in the sunny south east including Live music from Mundy, Rattle & Hum and the Academic. On Saturday, there is a huge family fun day in Gorey Town Park featuring loads of activities for children of all ages.
Sean McCarthy Memorial Weekend
A fantastic festival honouring the balladeer Sean McCarthy which takes place in Finuge, Co. Kerry every August Bank Holiday Weekend featuring music, storytelling, crafts and a fun family BBQ on Monday afternoon.
