A visit to Newgrange Farm and Archaeological Park will give a truly marvellous insight into farm life today and in older times.
Open since 1988, it is Ireland’s leading genuine working farm open to the public. The farm surrounds the famous national monument of Newgrange. It is a family owned and run working farm and educational facility, where adults and children can try bottle feeding, holding, feeding, petting and seeing all the farm animals and poultry and so much more.
Set in Ireland’s ancient east in the magical Boyne Valley, Newgrange Farm is one of Ireland’s first open farms. Only 30 minutes from Dublin and with easy access from the motorway.

Come and watch the Newgrange Farm Sheep Race on Sunday, bank holidays and special event day afternoons (weather permitting). Great fun for everyone!
here is also a tractor trailer ride available, which takes its passengers down through the farm crops and livestock, to the River Boyne and national monuments and past the tooth fairies’ palace! (Only available for booked groups, or weather permitting, when sufficient numbers want it and farm work allows it)
Other Facilities
All explorers need to refuel every now and again. Relax with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake in our cafe… or tuck into a picnic. There’s plenty of room to spread out with outdoor and indoor picnic areas.

School Groups & Tours
One of our many guides will be assigned to your group on arrival.
The farmyard tour takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. The tractor and trailer ride takes an additional 20 minutes.
Children will be able to feed the lambs and calves, cradle baby chicks, meet our kittens, puppies, piglets and rabbits. There’s even more fun to be had in our play areas and don’t forget to feed the ducks!
We also offer tours to the Bru na Boinne visitor centre and the Newgrange monument, subject to availability.

Directions
Newgrange Farm is off the Slane – Drogheda section of the N51 approximately 3 miles from Slane or 5 miles from Drogheda. This road can be accessed from the N2 or Exit 10 of the M1 (Drogheda North Exit) or from the N2 or N51 in Slane Village. Visitors arriving by the M1 Drogheda North Exit 10 should take the Navan/Slane exit off the roundabout and travel for about 3 miles, just after the thatched pub take the turning to the left and follow the signs for the farm. Visitors from Slane turn right just after Smiths Stores 3 miles from Slane.
Do not follow signs for Newgrange National Monument/Bru Na Boinne as these bring you 10 miles away to the Visitor Centre for Newgrange.
